Energy Code Testing for New Construction

All newly constructed homes are required to pass a blower door test and a duct leakage test (if ducts are installed).

Thermal Imaging

We use thermal imaging camera's to detect the effectiveness of insulation by evaluating the quality of the installed batts or loose fill insulation.  It is common to find poorly installed insulation in nearly all homes.  We will identify the areas that need attention and explain how to correct the problem.

Whole House Air Leakage Testing

Replacing windows because of drafts can be expensive and unnecessary.  A blower door test will determine where and how much air leakage is occurring in your home. Fixing these air leaks first is always more cost effective.

Duct Leakage Testing

Duct leaks to the exterior of the home wastes money and causes hot/cold spots throughout your home.  During this test, the duct system is slightly pressurized with a calibrated fan to evaluate the duct system.  Decreasing duct leakage will result in lower energy bills as well as a healthier home.

Energy Audits

Every home will benefit from an energy audit.  An energy audit will benefit you and your home by providing lower energy bills and a more comfortable home.  You will gain a better understanding of how your home works and how each and every component is interconnected.  Some additional benefits worth mentioning include improved indoor air quality, increased durability of your home, reduced environmental impact, lower risk of indoor air pollutants.

HERS Ratings

A HERS rating is designed to evaluate and score your home by computer modeling.  This involves a very thorough examination of the property components, insulation, blower door and duct leakage testing, heating system and water heating analysis.  The computer model uses your geographical location, home orientation and other factors to score (rate) your home. This is a very comprehensive service to help improve your home's energy consumption, comfort level and livability.
